Yangtze River Pilots Deploy Digital App to Enhance Shipping Efficiency

Yangtze River Pilots Deploy Digital App to Enhance Shipping Efficiency

2025-10-03

The Yangtze River, China's vital economic artery stretching from east to west, has entered a new era of digital navigation services. The Yangtze River Pilotage Center recently launched a comprehensive mobile application, marking a significant step toward intelligent and convenient navigation services.

Comprehensive Digital Services

The newly launched navigation app features seven core service categories: pilotage application, navigation planning, visa documentation, electronic billing, navigation notices, maritime culture, and feedback channels. This one-stop digital platform provides round-the-clock online services for shipping companies and stakeholders.

This initiative represents the Pilotage Center's commitment to fulfilling its "Eight Service Promises" and deepening support for maritime enterprises along the Yangtze River.

Record Performance in Navigation

Over the past year, the Yangtze River Pilotage Center has achieved remarkable results in ensuring safe and efficient waterway transportation. Statistics show the center guided 65,000 domestic and international vessels, a 3.4% year-on-year increase, handling 530 million tons of cargo, up 7% from the previous period.

These accomplishments have significantly supported the development of 17 major ports along the Yangtze River, each handling over 100 million tons of cargo annually. The achievements stem from continuous innovation in service models and technological applications.

Innovative Measures for Efficiency

To enhance the golden waterway's operational efficiency, the center has implemented several innovative measures. For vessels carrying critical materials, it established a fast-track service system featuring direct application, immediate processing, and priority docking. This approach alone has saved approximately 3 billion yuan in logistics costs for Capesize vessels.

The center has also played a crucial role in supporting regional logistics by facilitating the launch of new shipping routes, including direct container services from Nanjing to Europe and a roll-on/roll-off route connecting Nanjing with Mexico.

Customized Solutions and Digital Integration

Adopting a tailored approach, the center provides customized navigation plans for individual enterprises and specific vessels. Innovative techniques such as "reverse sailing departure" have effectively addressed practical challenges faced by shipping companies.

The center has developed an integrated information network system that combines navigation planning, scheduling, and real-time monitoring functions. This digital transformation enables comprehensive tracking of vessels, operational coordination, and navigation vehicle monitoring throughout the entire process.

Through these technological advancements, the Yangtze River Pilotage Center continues to enhance the intelligence level of navigation services across all operational aspects, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of Yangtze River shipping.
